Overview

The Studio Vinci Nuclear Fellowship is a selective training and mentorship program for emerging talent in advanced nuclear energy, with a focus on small modular reactors (SMRs) and Tennessee Valley–centered deployment. Fellows receive intensive technical education, simulator-based training, professional development, and industry networking opportunities.


Eligibility

Applicants should meet the following minimum criteria:


  • At least 18 years of age by the start of the fellowship.
  • Demonstrated interest in nuclear energy, SMRs, or low‑carbon power (coursework,work experience, projects, or documented self-study).
  • Ability to participate in all required activities (virtual and in‑person) during the fellowship term.
  • Authorization to work or study in the United States for the duration of the program, if applicable.
  • Preferred but not required: prior technical education (e.g., community college STEM program, military technical training, craft/technician experience, or engineering coursework).

  • Describe your academic and/or professional journey so far.
  • Explain how The Studio Vinci Nuclear Fellowship fits into your long‑term goals.
  • Highlight specific skills, experiences, or perspectives you will bring to the cohort.
  1. Letters of Recommendation (2)
  • At least one from a supervisor, instructor, or military leader who can speak to your technical aptitude, reliability, and character.
  • Optional: one from a community leader, mentor, or collaborator who can speak to your leadership and service.
  • Recommenders should submit letters directly via the link or email provided in the application portal.
  1. Optional Materials
  • Portfolio of relevant projects (e.g., lab reports, designs, code, simulations, or presentations).
  • Evidence of prior nuclear or energy‑related engagement (conference attendance, clubs, outreach, etc.).

  3. Enter recommended contact information so they receive submission instructions.
  4. Verify that all materials are received before the deadline.

  • Priority deadline: January 15, 2026
  • Final deadline: January 31, 2026
  • Interviews (virtual or in‑person): Date range
  • Notification of decisions: March 1, 2026
  • Fellowship start date: June 1, 2026 (subject to change)
  • Applications received by the priority deadline will receive full consideration; later submissions may be reviewed on a space‑available basis.


Selection Criteria


Applications will be evaluated on:

  • Demonstrated motivation to pursue a career in nuclear energy or related fields.
  • Technical aptitude and capacity to succeed in an intensive training environment (not just GPA).
  • Communication skills and potential to teach, mentor, or engage the public.
  • Commitment to safety, integrity, and professional conduct.
  • Contribution to cohort diversity across background, experience, and perspective.
  • Finalists may be invited to a structured interview that includes behavioral questions and a brief technical/problem‑solving discussion.


Fellowship Commitments


Accepted fellows will be expected to:

  • Participate fully in all scheduled training sessions, simulations, and workshops.
  • Complete assigned readings, problem sets, and project work on time.
  • Adhere to all safety, professionalism, and conduct standards set by Studio Vinci and partner organizations.
  • Contribute to at least one outreach or education activity (e.g., classroom visit, public talk, or content piece) during the fellowship.
  • Provide feedback on the program to help improve future cohorts.
